Canada - 3 Levels of Government (gr. 5)
1. Watch the above video. List the 3 levels of government in Canada. Create a list under each level of what you consider to be their 3 most important jobs. Explain why. (Post your answer).

The message in Joe's rant is that he is proud to be Canadian and he is thankful for Canada. It's also saying that we created hockey. I am proud to be Canadian because Canada is safe there is lots of Water and food for everyone it is secure.
Federal
1. Defence. ( Because, without defence, we probably wouldn't even have, our tall, strong buildings standing, and we would probably, all be living on the street.)
2. Banking. (Because without banking, some people could lose track of their money, because they have too much to keep track of, and without banking, it is more likely, that money will be stolen.)
3. National Security. ( Because without security, we could be letting bad people, withbombs, and/or guns, and/or explosives, into our country, and they could bomb our country, or kill people, or rob banks.)
Provincial
1.Education. ( Because without education, we would all be stupid, and not know anything, that can be really important, and people who are in charge in really important things, like people who are in charge of banks, wouldn't know how to work anything, without education.)
2. Health care delivery. ( Because, without Health care, lots of people would be dying, and we might lose some of our best military people, because they need health care, to live through, things like bombings, and people shooting them.)
3. Licences. ( Because, if people didn't have to get licences to drive, then a lot more car accidents would happen on the road.)
Municipal
1.Snow Removal. ( Because, if we had no one to clear the snow away, then it would be very hard to drive on the snowy roads, and people could die, from bad car accidents.)
2. Waste Management. ( Because, if people didn't clear the garbage away, then we would all be living in a huge pile of waste, and we would have no one to take it away, and make it into better things.)
3. Water. ( Because without water, we wouldn't be able, to wash our hands, and then we would get sick more easy, and we wouldn't be able to take showers, and then we would stink , and lack very much in hygiene.)
The message in Joe's rant, is that you should always be proud to be Canadian, and no matter what happens, always be happy with this country, because its the best country you can live in, and that there are lots of things in Canada to be very, very proud of.
The three levels of government are Federal, which is in charge of the country, Provincial, which are in charge of each province, and Municipal, which are in charge of each city.
I think that the 3 most important jobs for each of the 3 governments are,
Federal: Defence because Canada needs to defend itself from other countries or other people coming in. Citizenship and Immigration because being Canadian in Canada is very important. Money because everything that you need to live a good life costs money.
Provincial: Education because we need a good education in order to get a good job and get money to live a good life. Health care because we need medicine to stay healthy and we need doctors to check us to make sure there is nothing wrong with our bodies. Licences because there are lots of places that are nearby that if we didn't have licenses we would have to walk because we wouldn't be able to drive anywhere.
Municipal: Building Permits because we need a building permit so we can build a house are apartment or building. With out it we wouldn't be able to even build a house! Water because we need water to drink and we need water for toilets and sinks and dishwashers. We need the water to live! Snow removal because without it when it snows a lot we won't be able to drive or even walk because of all the snow!
Municipal Government: garbage clean up because without it we would have to sore all of it in our house and we wouldn't have much room.
Public transport gets us from place to place and it prevents us from having to walk far if we don't have a car.
Building permits allow you to build a house or building and without it everyone could build what ever they wanted and everywhere would be crowded.
Provincial Government: Medical care is important because it keeps us safe and without it they would be nothing to cure diseases and sicknesses.
Education is good too because we wouldn't be able to learn and we won'y be intelligent enough to get a job.
Natural resources are very important because that's were we get our food and minerals.
Federal Government: National security this is important because they keep us safe and they make rules of no guns in public areas scanners in airports.
Trade is important without it we would have nothing but things from our country so no certain kinds of fish or different kinds of pets.
Citizenship is important too because without it somebody from another country wouldn't be able to become a Canadian citizen
The message in Joe's rant is that he is proud to be all that Canadians are, to have all that Canadians have, and that he is not American, he speaks the language Canadians do and that he will always praise...
CANADA
Federal:
National Security. So we can be safe and secure. If we aren't secure then we could lose a lot of stuff.
Defence. We want to be safe from other countries and other things. We won’t be safe without defence.
International relations. Our countries want to not have war against each other and with International relations, we would be happy and could go anywhere.
Provincial:
Education. If we didn’t have education then we would be in trouble. We wouldn’t be able to get a job, communicate, count money, etc.
Health care delivery. We could be healthy and happy. Everyone has access to health care.
Social assistance. They help you find a job and lend you money in Ontario. They also help the people with disabilities.
Municipal:
Water. We have to drink water to survive and to wash ourselves.
Transit. If you don’t have a car and you have to go somewhere, you can use the bus or the subway.
Garbage. You don’t want our city to stink and get dirty.
What Joe is saying is that you shoud be proud to be Canadian. That we have lot's of other things that Canadians don't have. I am proud to be Canadian because it's safer and more sucere. That is some of the resons why we moved to Canada.

These are the most important things for the following types of governments
FEDERAL:
-National security and military are very important because that we need to be protected by the government, we might get hurt by different things, so that is why military and national defence are very important.
-Money and banking are also very important because that much of the things we do are related to money, so if we don’t have money control, then everybody would probably just steal everything or barter stuff unfairly
-Citizenship and Immigration are important, because that way our country can receive people that immigrate to our country, and also it also controls unwanted visitors to our country.
PROVINCIAL:
-Schools are very important because if we did not have education, other people would outsmart us and other countries would make us poor because some people, without education might screw things up. Also if we did not have education, then everyone would go berserk and there would be no rules.
-Health care delivery is very important because if there is an emergency, we have to do deliver the patient to the hospital, or else they may be gravely injured. If there was no health care delivery, many patients could suffer from different diseases and maybe spread diseases if they stay at home. It is very important to have health care services.
MUNICIPAL:
-Snow removal is a good service, during the winter time, snow can get very heavy in Canada, and it is a big problem, it can slow us down a lot.
-Transit is important, transit makes trading, work and many things easier. It can carry goods and transport humans and almost any type of load. Without transit and transportation, we would be walking or going on horses, which is a lot slower.
-Water is very important, without it, we cannot live. Without water, we could also catch diseases, water is important for our body, and it is good to drink a lot of water when you catch a cold. Also, if we did not have water, we cannot clean ourselves.
The message in Joe's rant is he is proud to be a Canadian person and he is proud to be it. He also mentions that the beaver is a fine animal, and gives many of the symbols of Canada, such as hockey and saying "z" the Canadian way.
Part 1
The three levels of the government are Federal,Provincial and Municipal.
First I will list the most important jobs the Federal government does.
-Money & banks because that will control everything related to money, like but things. If we did not have control over that then people would be stealing or getting supplies without paying for them.
-National security because that controls all of our police force, and it is important for people to follow the law. Our world would be out of control with no laws to follow and no security to enforce them.
-Citizenship and immigration is important because people that are on the run from police could sneak into countries and live off a fake identity and the police would never be able to know. It also helps keep transportation easier so if a Canadian person is coming back from another country they can tell who they are.
Three most important for Provincial:
-Schools and education are very important for children getting taught. It lets us get ready for the jobs we are going to have in our lifetime and gets a better chance of getting into them. It also teaches you things that you always need to know like math, pretty much every job is going to have the usage of math in it.
-Health care delivery because if someone is injured they need help. If people are sick or in pain they know the can just go to a hospital and they will help you. If we did not have those a lot more people would die then usual because no health care. It also covers childbirth so pregnant women and the child will be okay and make it.
-Natural resources because we want to have water and hydro, and if we did not life wouldn't be the same! plus we need cool air in the summer and warm air in the winter.
Three important for Municipal government:
-Snow removal is super important.The roads are already pretty slick because of the snow and ice , and if the snow removal was not there then the roads would be practically impossible to drive on without a risk of crashing. Also some days you would not be able to get out of your driveway if you live on a street that is not driven on a lot.
-Transit is very important. That controls all the subways, trains,buses etc. and lots of people take those to get to work/school. Some people don’t have enough money for a car(s) so they take the train in everyday. And if they did not have control of all of those convenient transit stations then people would need to buy more cars and sometimes would not be able to get to places on time.
-Water because we need that for so many things! Brushing your teeth, taking a shower, getting a drink, cleaning the dishes etc. Water is one of the most important things on Earth and we could not survive without it.
Part 2: I think the message in Joe’s rant is that he is proud to be a Canadian just like I am. He does not care what other people think is strange like calling “z” zed, speaking different languages, spelling, pronouncing and saying words different and other various things.

The three levels of government are Federal, Provincial and Municipality. I think the Federal government's 3 important jobs are money and banks, the Canada posting system, and the last thing is the military. I think these are all important, because you can store you money in a bank, sent letters and checks to people using Canadas posting system, and the military defends our country from other people in other countries.
I think the provincial government’s 3 important jobs are buildings like hospitals, the environment, and car licences. These are important jobs, because hospitals have medicines for healing people, plants and trees give oxygen to breathe, and licences are used to be able to do things you can’t do without a licence, like driving and fishing licences.
I think the Municipality government’s 3 important jobs are the garbage, transit and your house. These are important because garbage could pile and pile until it overflows, transit takes you places far from a spot, and if your house was poorly built and didn’t have water, you might not be alive right now.
The message in Joe's rant is that we should be proud that we are Canadian because we were born there and that's where we'll stay for for the rest of our lives (unless you fly to a different country or something like that.) I'm proud to be Canadian, because we are so lucky: we have lots of things other people don't have, like entertainment, the news for warning, homes, food and water.

The Three Different Governments
The top three things that the Federal Government are in charge of are:
-money - Money is the most important thing when it comes to a stable economy, and if we didn’t have anyone to look after that, then that would definitely not be good for the economy.
-citizenship and immigrations - Back in the old days, it could be very hard to get into the country. It could be extremely hard to get a citizenship. These days however, these matters are made easier by the department of immigration.
-military - Although there are no wars going in Canada, the government sends soldiers to war-torn countries (ie. Afghanistan) to help out. This can also be helpful to establish links between two countries, which can be very useful for trade.
The top three things that the Provincial Government are in charge of are:
-health care delivery - In case you are wondering exactly why I put this first (which you shouldnt) it is because it helps cure people of many illnesses, including the pressure of the bills afterwards!
-natural resources - We need the environment! Natural resources give us many important objects from wood for building houses to simple everyday objects!
-education - It is very important that children (and adults) have an education because everything (or at least a lot of) what you learn will help you get a job and make money when you are older.
The top three things that the Municipal Government are in charge of are:
-water - Let me just put it this way: clean water is very important for humans’ health and survival.
-transit - Transit comes in very practical in getting from point A to point B, especially if you don’t own a car.
-snow removal - It would be extremely hard to get anywhere if you were completely snowbound every time there was a huge snow dumping.
The top three shared responsibilities are:
-laws - Well, a) they help keep people safe and b) you can’t just have criminals running around!
-environment - With growing pollution problems, it is very important to have somebody to look after the environment.
-roads - Road planning is very important because people need to be able to travel on stable, safe roads.
Federal: Defence because otherwise people could just raid us whenever they want, money because we use that everyday and citizenship & immigration so that not just anyone can live here.
Provincial: Schools and education so that we have somewhere to learn, health care so that we stay healthy and natural resources because then there would be no plants or animals.
Municipal: Garbage because otherwise are whole city would be filled with garbage, building permits or else no one would have a house and water because otherwise we would dye of dehydration.
I think that Joe's message is that he is proud to be Canadian. I am proud to be Canadian because it is very safe here and because we created hockey. (I don't like to play hockey, I just like to watch it.)

Federal - In charge of all of Canada
Provincial- In charge of one province
Municipal - In Charge of a city
We need a Federal Government because, well if we didn't have one Canada would be crazy! No rules, no guidance, Canada would be a total mess!
A Federal Government takes care of the WHOLE country Canada, and most of the time they manage national security, defence military, international relations, citizenship and immigration, money, banking, and postal service.
I think of all the jobs the the Federal Government does the three most important to me would be 1st, national security and defence military, because if for some reason, Canada went into war again with another country, we would need our soldiers to fight for us, or if any bad damage happened to Canada we would need it to be fixed.
2nd, citizenship and immigration because if anyone wanted to leave their country because there was war going on, or if something terrible happened to their country, and they wanted a safe place to go, I think its important to have the offer open for them to come to Canada. Everyone has the right to feel safe.
3rd, Money and banking because some people have trouble managing their money, and need help with it. Also we need to pay our taxes because if there is an emergency and we need to go to the hospital right away we don’t have to pay to go to emergency because we paid our taxes.
We need a Provincial Government because the Federal Government can’t manage every single thing in Canada.
A Provincial Government is in charge of one province in Canada (for instance, Ontario) A Provincial Government manages schools and education, health care delivery, social assistance, natural resources, and licences.
I think all of the jobs the Provincial Government does the three most important to me would be 1st would have to be social assistance because if you lost your job and couldn’t pay for your family, house, food etc. people working for social assistance would help you a little, and give you some money. (Thats why we pay taxes) 2nd would be Health care delivery because they are in charge of making sure we have enough doctors, clinics, and hospitals. They also make sure that when doctor offices are closed there are clinics open. Health care delivery is just basically making sure you have enough medical care or help when you need it. 3rd thing would be Natural Resources because we need to have fresh clean water,clean un - poluted air , and lots of trees.
Thats what The natural Resources make sure we have, their in charge of keeping the land clean.
We need a Municipal Government because the Provincial Government can’t run everything in the whole province. So that’s where the Municipal Government comes in. The Municipal Government is in charge of libraries, snow removal, transit, building permits, property taxes, water, waste management. I think of all the jobs that the Municipal Government does, the three most important to me are 1st water because even though the Provincial Government manage the natural resources, the Municipal Government, checks it over a little more securely, because he doesn’t have as much people to look after for. 2nd would have to be transit because some people don’t have enough money for cars, or their own personal vehicles but if we have buses, trains, taxis, etc. people can still get to where they want to go. 3rd would have to be waste management because wouldn’t you hate it if you had 10 bags smelly garbage laying around your garage!? That would be disgusting, so thats why we have waste management! So the garbage truck can come on time according to its schedule.
Of course we have to keep in mind that the Federal Government, Provincial Government, and Municipal Government share some jobs too like roads, laws, police, environment, parks, tourism, and like they said on the video….MANY MANY MORE!!

The three levels of government are Federal, Provincial and Municipal. I think that the Federal government's most important jobs are national security, so people can feel and be safe, money, or everyone will be poor and stuff and military so we can fight and defend and more stuff. Provincial; Education, so we can have a good career and make it to college/university, health care for obvious reasons and natural resources so we have air to breathe from trees and oil or something to burn and ores and plants and medicine from some plants, etc. The municipal government's three most important jobs in my opinion are water, so we don't die of thirst and other water-related reasons, building permits so people don't build all over the place and maybe build something deadly aaaand waste management so we don't drown in garbage and cause global warming (though I think that's because of idling instead of trash)

Federal:
1. National Security (Defence, military). If we didn’t have the military or defence to fight for our country and freedom, we wouldn’t have a place to live or have our rights. Canada would be gone and just become a bigger territory for another country. The law would change and some might not approve it. We wouldn’t have our country we know and love anymore.
2. Money. If we didn’t have any money, we wouldn’t be able to buy the things we would need in order to live. For example, we wouldn’t be able to buy clothes, food, furniture, a house, etc. Also, if you had a bill to pay, you wouldn’t be able to pay it.
3. Citizenship and Immigration. If we didn’t have this, we wouldn’t be able to become canadians or get canadian passports and just live as non-canadians in Canada. We wouldn’t become actual citizens of Canada and might not be able to live in Canada just because we’re from a different country!
Provincial:
1. Health Care Delivery. If we didn’t have hospitals or doctors and nurses, medicines and cures, special treatments and ointments, Canada would probably have a population of 0! Everyone would be sick, and catch each others sicknesses and we would all be probably dead. No one could be cured, no one would be saved and NO ONE WOULD BE ALIVE!!! So we really depend on our hospitals, doctors and medicines to keep ourselves healthy!
2. Schools and Education. If we did not have any schools in our province, we would have NO KNOWLEDGE, and there is no way we could have a job, because we would not know anything about the job, like what you’re supposed to do, or how you’re supposed to do it, or even the materials or items you’re dealing with! The province wouldn’t have anyone working or helping the community and every would be just… Dumb.
3. Natural Resources. If we didn’t have any nature, or power from natural resources or have no animal life (besides pets), everything would look all grey and look lifeless. Everything would also look gloomy and non-natural. No trees, no animals, not even a flower blooming! And plus, the trees make the air cleaner to breath, make a home for animals and supply wood for us!
Municipal:
1. Building Permits. If we didn’t have building permits, we wouldn’t be able to build any houses or buildings to live in. We wouldn’t have a place to live in and won’t have the proper home we should. There would be no shops or offices or hardware stores to buy the things you’d need to live.
2. Water. If we didn’t have water, we would not have anything to drink. The plants can’t grow without water, and almost all foods are made or come from plants. Everyone would be very thirsty.
3. Transit. If we don’t have buses, subways, buses or taxis, we won’t be able to go to where we need to go. It would be hard to get to work, school, shops or other houses.

I think the message in Joe’s rant is that he’s proud to be Canadian. I think that he thinks it’s a wonderful country and he likes all the unique and different things about it, I mean I do.
The question is, am I proud to be Canadian? YES! Of course! I feel very, very safe in Canada, and I love how we get all four seasons! Also there is a lot of nature and wildlife in Canada, more than some countries. I am extremely proud to be Canadian!! Its a wonderful country!
