1. Quito is the capital of Ecuador and the Province, Pichincha.

2. Everyone drives stick shift, even the buses.

Quito was founded in the 16th century.

There was a large earthquake on February 1979. It is estimated that about 40,000 people died in the earthquake.

Also, on August 1949, an earthquake killed around 6,000 people and left about 100,000 without houses.
