Open and explore the above links.  Post three things you learned in each video. You may use point form.

First link:
-That bumpy triangular surfaces support more weight than that of a flat surface.
-A lot of structures that need support use triangles as bases.
-I never thought triangles supported that much weight, now I understand why they use triangular trusses.
Second link:
-With bigger slopes, gradients the further it went
-The weights help the truck travel much further than without the weights
-The parachutes the helped the truck slow down as in skydiving they blow up their parachutes when they land so they land slower and also they have less impact, so therefore the trucks will go slower and less further than without the parachute

Those are my responses to it :D

I learned these 3 things from watching the videos:

- I learned that construction workers make the truses (triangular shapes) on bridges so that it is more stucturely sound.
- I learned that with a higher slope, a truck can go further.
-I learned that a parachute can make a truck slow down way faster.
P.S. I just thought that the parachute would make it slow down a little bit faster.

For the first link.

I think that is something cool, because one piece of paper can't hold a toonie, but if you use one with triangle shaped edges, it holds it even though he used the same type of paper.

The triangles act like trusses, that can hold the toonie up, and the other paper didn't have any trusses, so it couldn't hold it up.

It's like a bridge. If it doesn't have trusses, it would break down and wouldn't hold up the cars like the flat piece of paper not holding the toonie, but if it has trusses, it would hold the cars like the paper with the triangles.

Hi I'm Ronan said...

here are six things I learned from the science links (3 for each website).
Link 1
-Triangle surfaces can hold more weight then just a flat surface
- now i understand why Constitution workers use triangles
- I never thought that triangle paper would support more weight then a flat surface would.

Link 2
-If you made the slope bigger it would change the amount of distance the car would go
-Weights help the truck gain distance then having none
-The truck goes farther without a parachute

First Link:
-When a surface has triangles, when weight is put on the surface, the force gets absorb by the triangles.
-Most bridges have triangles below them so the bridges can support the weight.
-When a surface has triangles below it, it can support more weight then a surface with no triangles.
Second Link:
-The higher the slope the more distance it goes.
-A parachute makes the truck go slower (because when you are going fast with a parachute the air pushing on the parachute makes it go slower.).
-More weight makes the truck move faster because when you let it go on the slope, with more weight the truck gets pushed down and thenh the force pushes it forward

The End :D

- Triangles are stable
- If you put a load on a paper that is not folded it will fall.
- triangles help hold load.
- Builders use shapes to build.

- Parachutes make it go slower and less distance
- the heavier the weight, the faster and more distance it goes.
- the bigger the parachutes the slower and less distance it goes.

Here are 3 things that I learned from each video:

ScinceKids
- The higher the slope, the faster the truck will go
- The heavier the load, the faster the truck will go
- Adding a parachute will make the truck slow down

TVOKids
- Bridges with triangles are stronger than bridges without triangles
- Triangles are very stable
- When a load is applied onto a fan-like paper, the triangles support the load since triangles are very stable, unlike a flat piece of paper

I meant ScienceKids not ScinceKids :P Sorry about the typo!

.The triangles are stronger so they use that for bridges and other structures
.the more heavy something is the faster the car will go if the car is on a slant
.structures are stronger with triangle shaped trusses.

The three things that I learned from the video are:

- Making triangular trusses in the sides of paper (or any material)makes it more stronger than having it plain old flat.

- That is why construction workers make bridges have triangular trusses.

- That the higher the slope, the further and faster the truck will go.

-The higher the slope, the faster and farther the truck will go.

- The more weight you add to the back of the truck, the further and faster it will go because the weight is pulling it down.

- I also noticed that, when you add the parachute, it actually makes the truck go slower, and not as far.

For the second link.

I learned that with a small parachute and a small weight, it was the same as the truck by itself, and it was the same with the big parachute and big weight.

I also learned that big weight is better than small weight, and also that a big parachute is stronger than a small one.

http://homeworkzone.tvokids.com/videos/structureandstability:
-I didn't know that folding a piece of paper a bunch of times could actually make it stronger
-I didn't know that bridges with triangular trusses are stronger than bridges with out them

http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/gamesactivities/forcesinaction.html
-the steep ramp made the truck go farther
-the parachutes slowed down the truck
-the weights made the truck go farther
