Chris Hadfield & The ISS

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/canadian-astronaut-chris-hadfield-launches-into-space-on-five-month-mission/article6552533/
Watch the above video clip.  What advice does former astronaut Bob Thirsk give Chris Hadfield?  What kind of skills do you think an astronaut should possess?
Congratulations to the students who participated in the Canadian Space Agency Challenge!  You were amazing.  Hopefully you appreciated the experience and had a few laughs along the way.  Stay tuned for the bloopers.

Bob Thirsk tells Chris, `Have fun, remember every moment, to fun space tricks and fly around like superman, because when you get back you want to remember all the fun moments you had up in space.`

Bob Thrisk says, "Make sure when you're there you fly around like Superman." He also says, "Just have fun up there." The overall message from Bob Thirsk is that when Chris is going to space he should have fun and not just work for the whole time. The skills you need to be an astronaut is you need to be social because if you don't communicate then you will be up in space for months just being bored and independant. Also you need to like the men or woman that you are going to space with because you will be with them for a fairly long time. Another skill you need is to have character because if you don't have character then nobody will want to go up to space with you.

Chris Hadfield launched into space on a Soyuz TMA-07M at 7:12 am on Wednesday. He will be in space for five months and during the mission he will take place in one or maybe two space walks. Chris Hadfield will also be involved in the operations of the Canadarm2 what the robot will grab the SpaceX dragon. In March he will return with three other space travellers. While he is in space he will also conduct scientific experiments.

Bob Thirsk told Chris Hadfield to have fun, fly around like Superman and do fun space tricks. The skills an astronaut should possess are bravery because if you're scared you won't go into space and perserverance because in the middle of a space mission you can't say "This is hard, let's go home!"

Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield launched into space yesterday for the 3rd time but the first time a Canadian ever commanded the IIS (International Space Station). He launched yesterday Russian astronaut Roman Romanenko, American astronaut Tom Marshburn. They are going up in a Russian space capsule that hasn’t been changed since Russia went up in the first place. Previous astronauts that had been up in the ISS have given him advice about being up there and being in command. Hadfield has always brought his guitar into space but this time he will be making a song about space while he is up there. Previous astronaut Bob Thirsk said to Hadfield “Fly around like superman and enjoy every minute of your time in space cause when you come back home you will want to remember all of your adventure in space to the second.”

Astronaut Chris Hadfield launched into space yesterday on a 5 month mission. During this time, he will be aboard the International space Station. There, he will be doing over 100 international and Canadian experiments. While he is up in space, he will also operate the Canadarm2 and do other things with robotics. In March, he will be the first Canadian to command the International Space Station. This is Chris Hadfield’s third trip to space.

He says to just have fun and enjoy himself while he's up in space because he's going to miss it when he comes back. I think an astronaut should know how to build things because if something like a satillite in space got broken they would have to go up there and fix it. Although being an astronaut isn't all having skill, but you alsio have to be brave to go up there because you don't always know if you're coming back.

Chris Hadfield Project
Chris Hadfield is going on a five month mission, to look after the orbital outpost and conduct scientific experiments! The station they are staying at will be their homes for the time being. "I have devoted pretty much my whole adult life ... to getting to this position where someone would trust me to command what is, in effect, the world's space ship," Chris Hadfield said in a recent Skype interview with The Globe and Mail. "It is both an enormous thrill and a great challenge to be asked to do this."
In my opinion, some qualities you have to have as an astronaut is that you have to love science. If you don’t, you might as well drop it, because you have to do some astronomy type things, and you have to study other science stuff A LOT. And Bob wants Chris Hadfield to "fly around like superman and have fun."

Chris Hadfield’s Space Launch

Chris Hadfield launched from a Russian spacecraft on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 for a 5 month long trip into space. During this mission, Mr. Hadfield will take part in one and possibly two spacewalks to overhaul some hardware outside of the station. By march, when Mr. Kevin Ford shall rotate home and be replaced by three other astronauts, Mr. Hadfield will take over command of the I.S.S., the first Canadian to ever assume that role in an Orbital Mission. The station is, at the moment, now home to mission commander Kevin Ford, a U.S. astronaut and two Russian flight engineers, Oleg Novitskiy and Evgeny Tarelkin. One thing to note is that Mr. Hadfield wrote on Twitter: “Just took my last hot shower for 5 months. I lingered...”.

Bob Thirsk gave the advice that Chris should fly around like superman and do some cool space-tricks. That Chris should savour his time in space, because when Chris comes back to Earth, he'll want to remember every bit of it.
I think some qualities that Astronauts like Chris should possess are bravery (because, you need to be brave to get launched into space at, like, a million miles an hour.). I also think you need to be persistent, because you can spend months and months in a spaceship, isolated from your family.

There are many traits that I think astronauts should have, but I’ll only list a few and why. I think an astronaut should be curious about space and our solar system. I also think that they should be brave because machinery and space ships some times malfunction. They would also need to be cooperative with other people such as those on their mission. I believe that someone who is or wants to be an astronaut should have these traits and more.

Bob Thirsk’s only advice for Chris Hadfield is just have fun and enjoy his time in space.

Cris Hadfield , born on 29 August 1959, is the first Canadian astronaut to walk in space. He was a former Royal Canadian Air Force fighter pilot. He was sent into launch on Dec. 19 2012. The former astronaut, Bob Thirsk said to Cris, “make sure when your there do cartwheels and some fun thing for when you get back, you will want to remember it there.” I think that to be an astronaut you would need to be enthusiastic and you couldn’t be stubborn or violent because the people couldn’t reach you in the spaceship. You would also need to be brave, because the spaceship goes really fast and the ride is bumpy.

Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield (born August 29th 1959), the first Canadian astronaut to walk in space, is heading to space on a Russian rocket ship. He will be there for 5 months or more on an important mission, his mission is to do scientific experiments sent to him by children in Canada and to operate the Canadarm 2 and preform robotics tasks. He was given advice by former astronaut Bob Thirsk to “fly around like superman” have fun and enjoy the moment because you’re going to miss it when you get back. I think an astronaut needs to have some discipline because they can’t always “fly around like superman” especially when you have an important mission. But you do need to be a bit loose you NEED to have fun I mean come on you’re in space! That’s cool. Plus you are far from home so you need to be brave!

An astronaunt needs to learn to fly, scuba dive, stay in shape, and study in university.

Bob basically said "Never work the whole time, cause you have to come back with something to talk about." The message is definetly very literal. Characteristics you should have if you are an astronaught can be to be dauntless, literate, and you must also be at least a little phisically talented. You have to be open to new expiriences. He will be doing some of the scientific experiments that were submitted

Chris Hadfield is working hard to prepare a 6 month trip into space. Also he is getting students to send him experiments that he can do in space. For example, ours is the PENCILTHROUGHPOLYMERPLASTICBAG experiment! Chris Hadfield is staying in space until May/April. Chris Hadfield was wanting to go into since he was 7-9 years old.

Chris Hadfield is a canadian male astronaut that was born on august 29'th 1959. Yesterday Chris was sent up into space to be in command of a 5 story tall international space-station. Chris will also be doing a series of experiments, and that will hopefully clear some things up. Also chris will be making sure everything is going good for his 5 month journey through the stars. Chris is a fanominal man and this will be his 3rd mission, and hopefully the miyans where wrong because I am sure all canadians want his mission to sucseed

Chris Hadfield is going into space for 6 months! Which is until May! Chris launched successfully on December 19 2012. He will perform many experiments while he is there. Did you know that Chris was the first person to walk in space? This is his 3 rd time visiting space. He is going to be there for a long time so wish him luck!
