Black History Month
Each year during the month of February, we observe Black History Month. In doing so, we honour the legacies of black North Americans.
The Underground Railroad, which was a series of secret routes and safe houses between the United States and Canada, was crucial in helping slaves find freedom. We will be discussing this further this coming week..

Team Canada at The Opening Ceremony - Sochi Olympics 2014
Partner Drama Activity - You and your partner will research an Olympic athlete competing at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. After thoroughly researching your athlete you will write an interview script which you will practice and then perform for the class. One of you will be the CBC interviewer and one of you will be the athlete. We will create success criteria in class which will clarify the expectations. If you could be any Canadian Olympic athlete who would you want to be and why?

International Year of Crystallography (2014), Scientists in School invites
students to create and conduct their own crystal experiment for the chance to
win a prize package that includes a pizza lunch for the entire class and a
complimentary workshop!
The Kidz Lab Challenge is a great opportunity for
individual or group work and is designed to appeal to all students regardless of
age or ability. Simply put, growing crystals is fun! The deadline for submissions is May 23,
2014.
