Transit of Mercury - May 9th

On Monday May 9th, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. there will be a Transit of Mercury in our skies. This is when Mercury is between us and the sun; you can see the movement of Mercury starting from the left of the sun and moving down to the right. Astronomers are getting together to show this phenomenon to children in schools and they'll be coming to Canadian Martyrs! They will bring their telescopes - which have solar filters to protect your eyes - and they will give you an opportunity to look through and see the transit of Mercury.

There will be about two or three telescopes on sight and you will have 30seconds-a minute to have a look at this amazing phenomenon.
