Canadian Space Agency - Top 10 Finalists

http://www.asc-csa.gc.ca/eng/missions/expedition34-35/science-challenge/Default.asp
"On December 19, 2012, Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield blasted off for a five-month mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS) during which he and his crew will perform some 130 Canadian and international experiments."
Congratulations to the students from our class who participated in the Great Canadian Space Agency Challenge.  They voluntarily gave up recesses and lunch hours to plan and perform an experiment that could be performed in space. Our submission was one of the top ten finalists from across Canada.  Open the above link to see our results.
In September 2012, the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) invited young Canadians under the age of 19 to design their own science experiments only using items already available on the space station.
A panel of scientists, engineers and astronauts picked  the best submissions from across Canada.
The following students are to be commended for their effort and enthusiasm:  Amanda Reynolds, Aidan Ryan, Mackenzie Rolfe, Catherine Beauchemin, Katherine Mann, Luke Seely, Kyle Irwin, & Kove Sartor.  Special thanks to Olivia Rodriguez who videotaped our experiment for Youtube.

What does it take to change the world?

Explorers - Gr. 6

Over the course of the next week, we will be learning about issues that our European Explorers encountered and the inventions that solved them (for example, the compass helped early travellers figure out which direction they were moving in, instead of sailing blindly). After watching the videos below you are to find an invention (that we have not yet learned about) that helped the explorers with problems that they experienced. Create a post that explains the invention and the problem that it solved. You may even want to include a link for us to see.
