Wonder Quote

“If every person in this room made it a rule that wherever you are, whenever you can, you will try to act a little kinder than is necessary - the world really would be a better place. And if you do this, if you act just a little kinder than is necessary, someone else, somewhere, someday, may recognize in you, in every single one of you, the face of God.”
― R.J. PalacioWonder

Explain what this quote means in your own words. Why do you think this quote is important? How does it apply to anti-bullying messages?

I think that this quote is important because it is conveying a very strong message. It is saying that if you act a little nicer than how you usually are, then “someone else, somewhere, someday, may recognize in you”. After that, it goes on to say that in you, will be recognized as the face of God. I think that what the quote is trying to say is that if everyone was a little nicer than necessary, then a person (any person) would see in you, the face of God.
This quote applies to anti-bullying in the sense that if people were nicer than necessary, there would be no bullies at all in the world. If everyone was a little bit nicer, then in them, recognizable by anyone, would be the face of God. Then, the world would be filled with nice, caring people, with no bullies whatsoever.

That would be wonderful!

I think that this quote means that if everyone tried to be a little nicer, to be a little more kind and more caring, and to have more empathy for one and other, more than necessary, then the world would be a better place. No more teasing, no more gossiping, no more fighting, just loving each other as the Lord loves you, and the world would be a better place. And if you do this, maybe, just maybe, somebody might recognize in you, the face of Jesus because of how kind, loving, and caring you are.
I think this quote is important because it sends a message. A message that is simple, yet so true and meaningful. It tells you that its as simple as you being nice to everybody a little more than necessary, can make a big difference. If someone notices you being a little more nice than usual, they might think “Hey. This person is being extra nice. It reminds me of what Jesus taught us - do onto others, as you would have them do onto you.” They might recognize in you the face of Jesus, and want to do the same. Eventually, more and more people start noticing how nice you’re being, and more, and more people want to do the same. Soon the whole world would be a better place.
I think this applies to anti - bullying messages because its talks about being nicer, and more loving. If you were to show a bully how nice someone can be, maybe they will realize how important it is to be nice, and show empathy to everyone.

I think that this quote means that if everyone was a bit nicer all the time, and stop with all of the secrects and jokes about how someone looks then the world would be a better place, and if you do, then one day, someone will give you credit for it.
I think that this quote is important because it tells you about something. It tells you that wherever you are you should be nice to people. And that you should stop bullying if you are. Also that if you see someone being bullied, then you should tell them to stop. Also it sends a message that if we all did that then the world would definitely be so much of a better place. One without teasing, name-calling, put-downs, and lots of other really mean things that people do.
I think that this applies to anti-bullying because this talks about being nicer than usual and not being a bully.

I think that this quote means that if people were always really nice to each other, that the world really be a better place and that people being nice to each other is really a good thing. This ties into anti-bullying because if someone is being a bully, then they are definitely not making the world a better place.

also I think that he means if all of us stander up to bulling no one would ever be picked on again whack would make the world better and life easier.

I think the quote means if everyone was a bit cared more, nicer to other people and had more empathy then the world would be so great. It is like what Jesus taught us, to others the way you would have them do to you. It also says that if tour bulling you should stop or if you are getting bullied you should stand up.It shows that the world is not that great with all the teasing,name-calling,physically and mentally bulling.

I also think that no one should be picked on, and deserves to be picked on, the world would be a much better with out bullying.

What I think is that if we were all nicer than necessary, there won’t all of this trouble in the world. No more war, hatred, gossip. No more people robbing banks or murdering people. We would all be respecting God’s rules. The 10 commandments. All of this will make a better place.
“someone else, somewhere, someday, may recognize in you, in every single one of you, the face of God.” Well this part of the quote is saying that if you are nice, you are setting a good example and maybe they will do that. Yes it might work, but not always. Some people just don’t notice. But God will know and will give you a reward. God will recognize you and Jesus,Mary.
For a bully it is very noticing. If they start being nice all of the sudden everyone will be scratching their heads and thinking what happened. Is he/she sick or something. Well that is good for her/him. Maybe he/she will make other people stop bullying. I know that just one person can start bullying and one could stop.
Bullies don't try to be kinder than necessary. They do the opposite. So if they did try to be kinder than necessary, bullies will be history. They wouldn’t exist. Because what they do is not nice! Nevermind nicer than necessary. What they do is break someone’s soul. Someone’s heart. They won’t be the same. But if they follow this quote, no one will be a bully.Only with nice, caring, respectful people.
It will be like paradise on the earth.

I think that the quote means hat if everyone was a little nicer, and more kind and caring more than necessary, then the world would be a better place that's BULLY-FREE! That would be awesome. Also if you do act a little nicer, then someone might recognize you inside as the face of God. A bully-free world would be nice after all. This quote is important because if everyone in the whole entire world was a little nicer than necessary, than it would be, as a said earlier, A BULLY-FREE WORLD!

This definitely relates to anti-bullying because if bullies decided to be a little nicer then people wouldn't be as sad. Then maybe that bully will try to be nicer every day, and someone will recognize them someday. -SJ

I think that this quote means that if three, two, or even only one person decides to be a bit nicer than usual, the world would be a much nicer place to live in. Then people would eventually see you as the face of God. People wouldn't hurt other people, like by stealing, hurting, name-calling, gossiping, killing others, or damaging other's things (on perpose), if everyone tried to be as nice as they can all the time, no matter who they are being nice to. Then, because everyone was being nice, there would be no bullies, since bullies are very nice at all.

This is an important quote, because it says "If every person in this room made it a rule that wherever you are, whenever you can, you will try to act a little kinder than is necessary - the world really would be a better place. And if you do this, if you act just a little kinder than is necessary, someone else, somewhere, someday, may recognize in you, in every single one of you, the face of God," and he said the world would be a better place if everyone was a little nicer than usual. That means that mean people have to act nicer, and even the nice people have to act a little better also, because everyone does something bad once in a while.

If we all followed the quote, we would all be nice to each other, and not being bullied or to be bullying other people, which would be the best thing for people everywhere, and there also wouldn't be any wars in the world.

The quote up above, in my own words, means that if a bunch of people came together and decided they would act just a little kinder, they may make the world a better place. And since Jesus was so kind and sweet to everyone just as God was, someone, somewhere, who sees these people doing these good deeds and being just a little more kind than normal, would see them as someone who is following the command of God.

I think this quote is important and inspiring because It’s saying that if some people, just a little group of people, decided to value kindness above all and to be just a little kinder than needed, the world really could become a better place and I find that truly wonderful.

I think this quote ties into anti bullying messages because if someone decides (like in the quote) to act a little kinder than is necessary this could stop them from being a bystander or a bully, for example:
If they see a person being bullied they could tell the bully to STOP! That small act of kindness could leave someone very grateful and could stop the bully from ever trying to hurt that person again.
If they see someone sitting all alone you could offer them to join in with your game. This kind act could stop you from becoming a bully for not including someone in your game.

So that’s what this quote meant to me.

I think that the quote means if you act a little nicer that usual, one day someone might see in you a kind person. If everyone in your class does it, people will begin to be nice to everyone too. Soon, everyone will be nice everyone including bullies. How wonderful!

I think this quote means that if everyone act a little bit nicer each day eventually the world would become a paradise (though it would still have parking lots)if people did this then people would b eventually be very good people, if they were people would recognize them for just that.
This quote is important because people might be doing that, including bullies, and if this quote didn't exist people wouldn't be doing that, making the world a better place.
This ties in to anti-bullying because if everyone did this the world would potentially be bully free.

This quote means that if you tried to be nicer to others whenever you can, then one day you will be given credit for it.
What I mean by that is that if you are nicer to somebody, than they may thank you and think of you like Jesus...Kind and with empathy.

I think this quote applies to anti-bullying in the sense that if everybody in the world was nicer, then bullies would not exist, since bullies are mean to people, and if they were nicer, they wouldn't be bullies at all! (Confusion!)

This means that if you started being more kind, people would notice that and start being more nice as well. This would start a chain reaction, eventually making the world a better and happier place.

I think this ties into anti-bullying because bullies are mean, so if everyone was nice, they wouldn't even know what the word "bullying" was!

Hello Room 11,

I enjoyed reading your responses. I thought that quote was quite powerful as well. It is such an awful thing to be bullied.
Also, Luke...I appreciated your reference to "paradise" and the "parking lot". I didn't know you were familiar with Joni Mitchell.

This quote means that if everyone were a little nicer to everyone else, that there would be no such thing as bullying. If everyone were nicer, this would be a better world and a lot of people would like it better. I think this quote is important because it is telling you that if you were to be just a little bit nicer to everyone, they would recognize you as the face of God. It applies to anti-bullying messages because it is basically telling everyone to be a bit nicer than necessary and bullies are very mean to other people.

I think that this quote means that if everyone was a bit nicer then usual, the world would be better. If you could care just a bit more, then the world would be better with more giving and no people that just don't care. If you take away every bad thing in your life, like lieing, sinning, screaming, hitting, all of that, everything would be better then it already is. Jesus taught us to treat others the way you want to be treated, and if everyone always followed that rule, everything would be better. If we do as Jesus did, if everyone does the world would rock, with no bullies robbers or any bad people, the world would ROCK.
