The elephants are being movedto the PAWS sanctuary in Californa. The way that the elephants are being moved is Antonov An-124. The Antonov An-124 is a large cargo plane. Because the cargo bay is not preasureized the plane will have to fly low. The elephants will be accomponied by people with tranqulizer guns on the 5 and a half hours flight to the paws area

The elephants are being put in large crates during the flight. The elephants Thika, Thoka and Iringa are being taught how to walk in and out of the crates they are being kept in during the flight. Even though the crates are designed so the the elephants are being kept in dotn escape, the elephants will have their two front legs and one back leg so that the elephants dont move when they are being shipped. The lawyers for the Toronto Zoo and PAWS are still trying to agree on a way of transport. This way has not yet been confirmed though it is the most likely option.

Does anyone know where I can find some info on why the elephants are being moved?

The three elephants Iringa, Thika and Thoka are all being retired to the PAWS sanctuary. They were going to be shipped by ground though Bob Barker has donated 880 000$ to thee Toronto Zoo. He is donating the money so that instead of driving the elephants to the sanctuary they will be flown by a large cargo plane. The elephants are currently 42, 42 and 31 are being brought to the sanctuary because they are at risk of a disease known as TD at there current location.

I think that it is a good thing that the elephants are being moved to the PAWS sanctuary because it is safer and more healthy than there current location. They say that where the elephants currently are in the Toronto Zoo is putting them at risk of TM a dangerous lung disease.
