Open the above link and check out the list of top 100 books for 9-14 year olds. Are there any books you think are missing from this list? If you could add a book/books to this top 100 list what book/books would you add?
Some of the books that I would add to the list are: The Westing Game/Raskin, The Nancy Drew series/Keen, and The Lord of the Rings/Tolkien (for very, very advanced readers).
If I could add 1 book to the list of 100 must-read books, then I would add “Three Times Lucky by: Sheila Turnage. I was actually surprised when I didn’t see that book, because it’s a book of many genres and it’s very interesting.
I think that some books were definitely missing, but some really good ones were there too. I think that some ones that I would add are: Ungifted by/Korman, Dead End In Norvelt/Gantos, and The Metro Dogs of Mosco series/Delaney. That is just a few that are really good books and that I recommend for everyone in the class.
I really expected to see The Maze Runner on that list, because it is a very popular book that I like, and it was also made into a movie! But thankfully it was on the teens list, but it was number 74! I think the Maze Runner should be number 1, because it is also way better than Harry Potter (My Opinion). Also I expected to see at least one Korman book on the lists, but I found out there were NO Korman books!
Here are some books/series that should have been on the list: -Swindle series/Gordan Korman -Ungifted/Gordan Korman -How To Train A Dragon series/Cressida Cowell -Airborn/Kenneth Oppel -Divergent series/Veronica Roth -The Maze Runner series/James Dashner -Fart Powder/Jo Nesbo -Stick dog/Tom Watson -Hunger games trilogy/Suzanne Collins
Sorry Thats a huge chunk of books, and some of them are more mature than others but a definitely suitable for our age. If I had to pick one author it would be Gordan Korman because he makes a lot of pre teen books.
I think that Ungifted should have been on the list. I liked the book, and Tin Man, but I sure hope that's not what other gifted classrooms are like. I think that was a bit of an exaggeration. Although, I sort-of wish that we got build a robot too. One last thing is that I liked how the chapters were written by different characters.
If I could add any book/books to this list of 100 Must-Reads for Ages 9 - 14, they would probably be The Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer, Some more of Judy Blume books, too.
One of the books that I would add to this list is definitely A Mango Shaped Space by Wendy Mass. (I got it a long time ago and have re-read it a lot.)
Another one I would add is The Maze Runner (along with The Scorch Trials, The Death Cure, and The Kill Order) by James Dashner.
Here are some more I would add: (Not in any particular order) -Wings of Fire series / Sutherland -Hollow City / Riggs -Firegirl / Abbott -The Girl with the Silver Eyes / Roberts -The Eye of Minds / Dashner -Ways to Live Forever / Nicholls (Sad) -Avalon-Web of Magic / (Rachel) Roberts

I would add the books Stormswept by Helen Dunmore and Girl Online by Zoe Sugg (Girl Online contains a bit of swearing).
