BREAKING NEWS

The name of the mission (landing Philae on a comet) is Rosetta. It's named after the Rosetta Stone. The Rosetta Stone was an ancient stone that was used to decipher the meaning of Egyptian hieroglyphics. What do the two Rosetta's have in common? (Post your response.)

The two Rosettas are similar because the Rosetta stone was used to decipher the meaning of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, and the probe is being used to try to understand the how life started on earth. That is the big idea.

What the Rosetta Probe and the Rosetta Stone have in common is that Rosetta Stone, (found in 1799) was used to decipher Egyptian hieroglyphics, and the Rosetta Probe is being used to study the comets and answer some important questions of the universe. Both were used to find something out, the stone for hieroglyphics, and the probe for finding stuff out about the origin of Earth and the Solar System.

What the Probe and the Stone have in common is that they both helped people discover new things; It helped them discover new things like the Rosetta stone helped people decipher egyptian hieroglyphics the ancient egyptians carved in the walls, because there was a message of the same words written in greek, and the Rosetta Probe helped scientists learn information about the comet, and seeing if there are any water sources, and maybe, discover anything that may have started life on Earth. Or better, LIFE IN SPACE! Also, both Rosetta’s helped learn things from the past, how life on Earth may have begun or what it was like in the Egyptian past.

Rosetta Probe Response

The two Rosettas have many things in common. They were both used for discovering ancient things, the Rosetta stone was used to discover the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, and the Rosetta probe, or the Philae was used for the exploration of comets, which were also ancient and reflect on life in outer space as well as on Earth. The Rosetta Stone was helpful in the discovery of the ancient Egyptians culture and language. The Rosetta Probe will help discover one of the building blocks of the solar system, the comets.

By the way, that was by me (you know who I am) and Andra.

The Rosetta Stone and the Rosetta Probe are alike because:

The Rosetta stone was covered with hieroglyphics and Greek and scientists used it to decipher hidden languages, and the Rosetta Probe is used to decipher what might be hidden in outer space, and find out if there are other planets that contain life.

They both were used to do things that have never been done before, and they both involve something very old (the Rosetta Stone and the comet are both old).

The comet and the stone were both rocks, obviously.

“Rosetta” Comparison
Group: Natalie and Daniel

These are the things that they Rosetta stone and the Rosetta Probe have in Common:

The Rosetta Probe is going to be used to decipher ” The Meaning Of Life” and the Rosetta stone was used to decipher egyptian hieroglyphics.
We also found this on Dictionary.com:
“A “Rosetta stone” is the key to understanding a complex problem.” Just like the Rosetta Probe was to land on comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko and help the scientists discover and understand, learn, and do research about that particular comet after 10 years of traveling!

It kind of sucks that it took over ten years for the “Philae” to land on comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, and yet the scientists of ESA only have a few days to study on it!
The probe right now has only two legs on the comet, and they have until Saturday to collect research or else the battery will die.

SCIENCE-What The Rosetta Stone And The Mission Have In Common

The Rosetta Stone and the Rosetta Probe are in common in the following ways:

Both the Rosetta Probe and the Stone give information to scientists
The Rosetta Probe was designed to track information about comets, and the Rosetta Stone is an ancient stone and gives scientists information about Egyptian hieroglyphics.
The Rosetta Stone and the Rosetta Probe were made by humans (The Stone was found in 196 BC, and was later carved by people in Memphis, and the Probe was made by humans to travel through space and send information to us about comets) .-Lucas and Noah
