I believe the derecho did not happen because as it said in the site with a link below, "Lightning,high winds, rain, but no derecho." I also read "The much-feared derecho turned out to be more of a derech- no." Targeted places were still hit with heavy storms. Up to 4 inches of rain hit different places in the states. High winds and lighnting still did enough damage by destroying buildings and left many without power. Ofcourse this is still better than the other outcome that would involve the Derecho actually happening. The worst of the damage and flooding came north and west of Columbus. I think the dreaded Derecho would have made our situation much worse if it happened.
No, the “dreaded derecho” didn’t actually happen. According to CBS News, early this morning, a derecho hadn’t developed. NBC News said the conditions would be right for a derecho, but the article (update 8 hours ago) didn’t mention a derecho actually occurring. ~Katherine
