It is very important to add life to your writing because if it is just some plain writing piece you won't make a point. So these are some examples of thing that you should include in a narrative writing piece;

Climax, Metaphor, Personification, Detail, A Resolution, Connotation, An Introduction, and A Problem.

Everybody should use these tips to creat a great narrative writing piece.

It's important to make your characters seem to have realistic personalities, and maybe an attribute readers can relate to.
Different genres of stories need different things. Mysteries need suspense, maybe a cliffhanger here and there, a climax, outcome and a problem of course.It should also have an unexpected twist. It can't be just "Detective Sally had always been great at solving mysteries, she had just finished one today."
Fantasy stories and adventures need adventure, lively characters, and a couple mystical creatures too!
Some things all stories need is climax, metaphor, detail, problem, outcome, interesting characters and a good plot and sentence structure. They also need a beginning, middle, and end. Also, every author should have something unique about their book that gives it sort of a finishing touch.
